Donbass can be a real engine of change in Ukraine - EU official

Donbass is gradually becoming European and can be a real engine of change in Ukraine. Such an opinion was expressed by spokesman for the EU Delegation in Ukraine David Stulik during Donbassmediaforum on Friday in Mariupol, - informs Interfax-Ukraine.

"Mr. Ambassador and my colleagues - we come here to Donbass almost every week because we believe: Luhansk and Donetsk regions can become the engine of change in Ukraine. Donbass will really change. It is becoming European now. Why can’t other regions of Ukraine become such?"- said D.Stulik.

At the same time, he stressed that the EU Delegation had put every effort to ensure that "this kind of Donbass will become West Berlin which will show the world how to live with dignity and that the path this part of Ukraine has chosen is the right one."

D.Stulik also noted that the EU prepared a programme for the restoration of Donbass, designed for multi-billion UAH, which the European taxpayers would finance.
