General Prosecutor’s Office refused to arrest and extradite Yanukovich at Kiev’s request

Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation refused to arrest and extradite Ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych at Kiev’s request. It was reported by Interfax with the reference to the official representative of the Russian supervisory authority Alexander Kurennoy.

According to him, in February 2015 they received "request for temporary detention and taking into custody of V. Yanukovych till getting request for his extradition in connection with the pre-trial investigation on one of the criminal proceedings" from Prosecutor General of Ukraine

"After considering the request, it has not been fulfilled on the grounds stipulated by the European Convention on Extradition as of December 13th, 1957, Ukrainian side has been informed," - said A.Kurennoy.

The report recalled that earlier the Ukrainian General Prosecutor’s Office received refusal from Moscow on two requests for extradition of former President Yanukovych.
