Zelensky will propose equating corruption to treason during the period of martial law in Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky will propose to lawmakers to equate corruption with treason during the period of martial law in Ukraine. He made this statement in an interview with TV host Nataliia Moseichuk.

According to his words, the parliament will receive the draft law within a week.

"I have set the task, and my proposal on equating corruption to state treason during wartime will be presented to the legislators of Ukraine. I understand that such a 'tool' cannot be in constant use in society, but during wartime, I believe it will be helpful", - the President said.

"Whether the legislature will support this or not, I don't know, but I will definitely propose it. Because we are developing a democratic society. It is very important not to tighten the screws and not to look at each case every time. We need to introduce systemic measures", - Zelensky added.

According to him, this instrument needs to be activated as soon as possible, before the end of the war.

"We all want the war to end sooner. But this is definitely to ensure that the corresponding instrument is activated as soon as possible. I think the parliament will receive it within the next week. Then, the ball will be in the court of the parliament... But this is not execution, this is not Stalinism. If there is evidence, a person should be behind bars", - Zelensky said.
