SSU banned former Secretary General of the Communist Party, the first and last president of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev to enter Ukraine for 5 years for public support for the annexation of Crimea by Russia. It was reported by speaker of the SSU Yelena Gitlyanskaya on her Facebook page.

"There have been a lot of calls from the media to prohibit entry for Gorbachev. In fact, we closed entry for him to 5 years in the interests of the national security, in particular for public support for military annexation of Crimea," – she wrote

As previously reported, Gorbachev supported Vladimir Putin's action to seize Crimea and said that he would have done the same.
