The leader of the terrorist "DPR" Alexander Zakharchenko talked about possible participation of candidates from Ukraine in the local elections in occupied Donbass for the first time. It is reported by the separatist DAN website.

According to Zakharchenko, "public primaries" will be held in the "republic" to win.

"Residents of the capital of the DPR will choose the most suitable candidates in the public primaries to participate in local elections provided by the Minsk agreements," - said the "head".

"We must be fully prepared to open the election campaign with any number of international observers, we need a strong candidate capable of defeating demagogues and oligarchs whom the Kiev regime will send to deceive our people," - he said.

"As our army is growing during trainings, our "political peace army" needs trainings as well. Primaries are some kind of training. The best fighters will be prepared to defeat our enemies in the struggle for electoral sympathies. We will not allow oligarchs and enemies of the republic to come back and walk on us due to elections. They dream to get here through elections for revenge and violence. They won’t do it. Our people will win," - said Zakharchenko.

Earlier Zakharchenko categorically denied the opportunity for Ukrainian parties to participate in the elections in occupied Donbass.

A source close to the leader of the "republic" says that he declared the primaries after a meeting with Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov. The meeting was held on Sunday evening in Donetsk.

Zakharchenko said that the primaries would be held in September and October, and if they were successful in Donetsk, they would organize them in other cities of the DPR. According to the terrorist, the elections may take place at the end of this year or at the beginning of the next one.
