The administration of the U.S. President holds russia responsible for the blowing up of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, where russian soldiers controlled the dam and the surrounding area. White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre made this statement during a briefing on June 7.

"This dam was under the control of russia, and they are accountable for the destruction caused by this war. And we will do everything possible to support the Ukrainian people during this difficult time", - said the White House spokesperson.

Jean-Pierre added that the United States continues to assess what happened at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant. However, she also stated that if russia had not initiated a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this tragedy would not have occurred.

Earlier it was reported that the U.S. government possesses intelligence data regarding russia's involvement in the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
