President Volodymyr Zelensky held negotiations with representatives of the British defense company BAE Systems, which is engaged in the production of Challenger tanks and M777 howitzers. The head of state announced this on May 30th on Facebook.
Zelensky held a meeting with representatives of the British defense company BAE Systems – CEO Charles Woodburn, Managing Director Gabby Costigan and Director for cooperation with Ukraine Christian Seear.
"We discussed the localization of production in Ukraine. We agreed to start work on opening a BAE Systems office in Ukraine, and subsequently repair and production facilities for the company's products", - the President stated.
Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to become a major regional hub for the repair and production of various types of products of BAE Systems and are interested in making our relations more global.
It was previously reported that the Rheinmetall Group, together with Ukraine, will establish a tank repair facility.
