The judges of the Supreme Court expressed their distrust towards the detained Vsevolod Kniazev, the Chairman of the Supreme Court. The corresponding decision was made during the Plenum of the Supreme Court on May 16.

"The Supreme Court, fully aware of its role and place in the judicial system, takes full responsibility for the events involving possible corrupt acts by its individual representatives", - said Dmytro Luspenchyk, the session secretary.

He also emphasized that the initiative group proposed to sign a statement expressing distrust towards Kniazev. This document was signed by 138 out of 142 judges present at the plenum.

"The judges of the Supreme Court are forced to state that corrupt acts in courts at any level, especially in the Supreme Court, cause irreparable damage to the reputation and trust in the judiciary, destroying the authority of justice. The Supreme Court acts and will continue to act on the principle of self-purification, taking all necessary measures. This is a black day in the history of the court. We must be worthy and withstand this blow", - he emphasized.

Further elections of the organizational committee are expected, which will determine the head of the organizing committee and continue the further proceedings of the plenum.

Earlier it was reported that law enforcement agencies detained Vsevolod Kniazev, the Chairman of the Supreme Court, who was caught accepting a bribe of $2.7 million.
