Putin's spokesperson peskov explained in an interview with Bosnian and Herzegovinian TV channel ATV that the objectives russia set for itself at the beginning of the "special military operation" have been partially achieved during over a year of war, but many tasks regarding "protecting the residents of Donbas" have not been solved yet. Russian media reported this.

Peskov attributed the lack of significant military successes of russian troops in Ukraine to the fact that "russians don't fight".

"You may ask why russians are acting so slowly? Because Russians don't fight, we don't fight. Waging war is a completely different matter, it involves the total destruction of infrastructure, complete destruction of cities. We don't do that", - said putin's spokesperson.

Regarding the fighting in Bakhmut, which russian forces, including the Wagner PMC mercenaries, have been trying to seize for several months, peskov said: "There is indeed a very emotional situation there. There are very heavy offensive operations taking place there. It's a very strong fortified area".

"Emotions are really running high there", - he said, without directly mentioning the public conflict between the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense.

"I won't mention the name, but regardless of what they say and what statements they make, we're talking about the armed forces of Russia. These are all Russian forces. These forces pursue the same goal". - he said.

It was previously reported that the kremlin responded to Prigozhin's remarks about "a happy old man and a bastard".
