The government of Slovakia has decided to transfer 13 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine at an extraordinary online meeting. This was announced by Prime Minister Eduard Heger at a press conference on March 17, reports European Pravda.

Heger said at the briefing that the government unanimously approved an agreement to donate MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine and will provide the aircraft jointly with Poland.

"Today, the government unanimously approved an international agreement on the basis of which a decision was made to provide Ukraine with MiGs and a part of the Kub air defence system", - he said.

According to Heger, they would serve to protect Ukrainians and not be used for offence.

In addition, Slovakia is to receive €900 million in compensation from allies for the fighters.

As previously reported, Polish President Andrzej Duda announced the transfer of 4 MiG-29s to Ukraine in the coming days.
