Ukrainian singer Jamala qualified with the song "1944" for the finals of Eurovision-2016 song contest which takes place in Stockholm," - reports RBK-Ukraine.

The singer performed the song "1944" about deportation of Crimean Tatars from the Crimea in 1944.

Jamala condemned these actions repeatedly and supported the territorial integrity of Ukraine during the fighting in the Crimea and then its annexation by the RF.

On February 5th, 2016 Jamala presented the song "1944" which won in the finals of the song contest. It is dedicated to the events of 1944 when in May all Crimean Tatars were deported to Central Asia.

The singer stressed that the main idea of ​​the song was the memory of the terrible tragedies of the past in order to prevent them in the future.

Belgium, Bulgaria, Serbia, Poland, Georgia, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania and Australia lsoqualified for the finals according to the results of the second semi-final of the competition.

Ukraine did not participate in the Eurovision contest.
