President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has introduced the newly appointed head of the Security Service, Major General Vasyl Malyuk, to the staff of the Security Service on February 13. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the department.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Vasyl Malyuk has proved that he is a patriot, a professional and exactly the person who should lead the Security Service of our state", - Zelensky said.

The President noted the work of the special services, including those who are fighting the enemy in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

Vasyl Malyuk thanked the president for his trust and assured that all SBU personnel are aware of the level of responsibility and the tasks it faces.

"Today we are building a new and modern model of the Security Service. We place special emphasis on counterintelligence. The service is developing in the counterintelligence direction, but we do not stop in the fight against the internal enemy: there must be complete control of the operational situation and timely identification of any systemic threats to the government. Not only detection, but also rapid response, documentation and detention of intruders", - Malyuk stressed.

According to him, the special service is changing approaches to work and is working systematically: from conducting unique special operations to detaining collaborators and documenting russian war crimes.

"I would like to remind you of our principle: a leader must work for the Service and for his subordinates, and not vice versa. Lead your army behind you and show how to work by your own example. The Ukrainian people are waiting for a speedy victory. I personally and all the personnel of the Security Service will do our best and impossible to speed up this Victory", - the head of the SBU noted.

It was earlier reported that the Verkhovna Rada accepted the candidacy of Vasyl Malyuk for the post of head of the SBU.
