For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a seaport was sold into private hands for 201 million hryvnias ($5.5 million), - the press service of the State Property Fund reports on January 17.

"The final offer for the port of Ust-Dunaysk was 3.3 times higher than the starting price, which was UAH 60 million ($1.64 million). This result was achieved due to significant competition among entrepreneurs - 8 investors competed for the port", - the report says.

Now the winner has 20 business days to pay the cost of the lot.

"We expect budget revenue in support of our Defense Forces", - the Fund noted.

The State Property Fund also noted that Ust-Dunaysk has great potential for the development of Ukrainian food exports. Now it will be able to attract private investment and help Ukraine feed more people around the world.
