Advisor to the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak has rejected russian Patriarch Kirill's call for a truce for Orthodox Christmas, calling the statement a "cynical trap". This is reported by BILD in russian.

"The ROC's statement about the "Christmas Truce" is a cynical trap and a piece of propaganda", - Podolyak tweeted on Thursday.

He stressed that the russian Orthodox Church is not an authority in world Orthodoxy, and also acts as a "war propagandist".

Podolyak accused the moscow Patriarchate of calling for the genocide of Ukrainians and inciting massacres.

Earlier, Patriarch Kirill addressed "the parties involved in the internecine conflict" and called for a ceasefire on Friday and Saturday "so that Orthodox people can attend services on Christmas Eve and on the day of the Nativity of Christ".

It is surprising that Kirill does not call on the kremlin to withdraw its troops from the entire territory of Ukraine, he is satisfied with the "truce" for only two days.

Let us recall that head of the russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Patriarch Kirill stated that in the war against Ukraine, the dead russian soldiers wold be forgiven absolutely all their sins.
