The Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church in Kyiv were returned to state ownership. This was announced by Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko in Telegram on January 5.

"The Сommission for the acceptance and transfer of the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church to the state has just completed its work. The commission included representatives of the National Reserve, the Miller law firm, the UOC and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy. The commission began its work on January 2 this year and was engaged in the inventory of property, as well as in drawing up an act of technical inspection of two buildings. The work of the Commission provided a comprehensive description of the property of the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church, the condition of iconostases and icons and other property in order to return it to the asset holder", - the minister reported.

"According to the results of the commission's work, the UOC signed an appropriate Act on the return of buildings. Despite the fact that Metropolitan Paul, who was supposed to sign the Act, did not appear at the last meeting of the commission, this is not an obstacle to the return of state property", - Tkachenko noted.

He stressed that "the Ukrainian object of worship should serve the entire Ukrainian people, and we will adhere to this principle in the future".

As reported, two facilities rented by the UOC-MP were closed in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
