White House confirms Zelensky's visit to USA and transfer of Patriot air defense systems

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will visit the USA on Wednesday, December 21. The head of state officially announced this on his Twitter; the official website of the White House confirms this as well.

"I went to the USA to strengthen the stability and defense capability of Ukraine. In particular, we will discuss cooperation between Ukraine and the USA with U.S. President Joe Biden. I will also speak in the Congress and hold a number of bilateral meetings", - Zelensky wrote.

The Ukrainian president's speech to the Congress will take place as part of a joint session of the two chambers of the USA legislature. The visit of the President of Ukraine was also confirmed at the White House.

They told that during the bilateral meeting of the leaders of the two countries, Biden would announce a new large package of military assistance for Ukraine for two billion dollars. The package will include the Patriot system.

"We will train Ukrainian forces on how to operate the Patriot missile battery in a third country. This will take some time, but Ukrainian troops will take that training back to their country to operate this battery", - the representative of the White House stated.

The Biden administration called Zelensky's visit a signal to russian president vladimir putin that Washington will support Kyiv for as long as it takes. In addition, during Zelensky's visit, it is planned to discuss the adoption by the Congress of the allocation of additional assistance to Ukraine in the amount of more than $40 billion.
