The petition on the website of the President of Ukraine "On the recognition of the state sovereignty of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria" gained 25 thousand votes necessary for its consideration by the head of state.

The initiator of the petition was member of the former Ukrainian delegation at the Minsk talks Serhiy Harmash.

The petition collected the necessary votes 28 days ahead of the deadline.

Let us recall that on October 17, the Government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI), acting abroad, appealed to the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the Prime Minister of Ukraine to recognize the independence of the ChRI.

On October 18, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a resolution "Statement of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the recognition of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria as temporarily occupied by the russian federation and condemnation of the genocide of the Chechen people".

As S. Harmash wrote on his FB, "this statement is not an act of state recognition by Ukraine of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. This is just a political statement of the Ukrainian parliament regarding the occupation of the territory, and the legal recognition of the state and, moreover, the establishment of diplomatic relations is the competence of the President of Ukraine".

Now, after the petition has gathered 25 thousand votes, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky must consider it and publicly respond.
