Giant queues have formed in the Leningrad and Pskov oblasts on the borders of russia with the European Union. They predominantly consist of Ukrainian refugees, - Current Time reports.

It is noted that people began to accumulate at the border crossings from mid-September, but in the last week, the situation has become threatening. According to volunteers, the situation is especially difficult at the border crossings of Ivangorod, Shumilkino, Kunichina Gora, Burachki, Ubylinka and Ludonka.

"There are queues for 3-7 days and hundreds of people at both checkpoints. They sleep on the ground, many have no money, the food has run out. There are more than 200 people on Kunichina Gora (another bus arrived today). I asked people right in front of the barrier (first in line) - they stood for more than six days (mother with two children). It seems to me that there are already more than a thousand on Shumilkino (no one knows for sure)", - eyewitness volunteers describe the situation on Shumilkino and Kunichina Gora.

At the Ivangorod-Narva checkpoint, Ukrainian refugees, according to them, are waiting for the border crossing for more than a day in the cold without food, water and minimal amenities. The efforts of volunteers, bringing people food, blankets, foam and taking old people and children out of the queues, are clearly not enough. They hope that publicity will draw the attention of those who are obliged by duty to resolve such issues.

Chairman of the Pskov Yabloko Lev Shlosberg announced a collection to help the refugees.

"Friends, in recent days, large queues have formed at border checkpoints in the Pechora, Pytalovsky and Sebezhsky districts of the Pskov oblast, mainly from Ukrainian citizens leaving russia. People are forced to wait for several days, many of them are outdoors all this time, in dire need of hot food, water and warm clothes. Volunteers work at the border crossings, but their efforts are not enough to help everyone", - Schlosberg wrote on Facebook.
