Germany not to supply weapons to Ukraine for strikes on territory of russian federation - Scholz

The German government will be very attentive to the issue of supplying Ukraine with modern weapons in order to prevent further escalation. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during the "Dialogue with Citizens", which took place in Magdeburg on August 25, - Ukrinform reports.

"The goal remains that putins do not win the war, in order to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The President of the USA formulated this quite clearly: he said that he would not supply weapons to shell the territory of russia. I consider this a principle that we all adhere to accordingly. Therefore, we look at what others are doing", - Scholz said.

He promised that Germany would act in such a way that this war would not escalate from a Ukrainian-russian war into a "completely different war".

According to him, the aggressive war of the russian federation against Ukraine is a violation of all the principles that Europe and the world have agreed on in recent decades.

"The point is that you cannot change borders by force, and we will not start flipping through history books to find out where the borders were 200-300-500 years ago and say: this once belonged to me, and I want it back . If everyone does this in Europe or in the other world, we will have a war for a couple more centuries", - Scholz stated.

Therefore, he noted, it is important to support Ukraine and help it repel "this imperialist attack". That is why, the chancellor said, he decided to move away from the federal government's long-standing policy of not supplying weapons to the crisis regions.

Based on this, anti-tank protection systems, air defense systems and ammunition were transferred to Ukraine.

He also reported that the Panzerhaubitze 2000, multiple launch rocket systems, Gepard anti-aircraft tanks, radars and the IRIS-T system, which is not yet in service with the Bundeswehr "and with which it is possible to protect such a city like Odesa", have already been delivered.
