President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky removed Iryna Venediktova from the position of Prosecutor General of Ukraine by his decree. This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine on July 17.

"DECREE OF THE PRESIDENT OF UKRAINE No. 500/2022. On the removal from the position of the Prosecutor General. In accordance with the second part of Article 11 of the Law of Ukraine "On the Legal Regime of Martial Law", I approve: To remove Iryna VENEDIKTOVA from the position of the Prosecutor General", - the decree reads.

Let us recall that Iryna Venediktova was appointed Prosecutor General (Decree of the President of Ukraine dated March 17, 2020 No. 90/2020) on March 17, 2020. 269 People's Deputies supported her candidacy.

As reported, Oleksiy Symonenko became acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine. Symonenko came to the Prosecutor General's Office in March 2020 after being appointed as Iryna Venediktova's deputy. Before that, he worked in the Security Service of Ukraine.
