Ukrainian military withdraw from Lysychansk - General Staff

The Ukrainian Defense Forces retreated from their positions and lines in Lysychansk of the Luhansk oblast. This was stated at the AFU General Staff on July 3.

"After heavy fighting for Lysychansk, the Defense Forces of Ukraine were forced to withdraw from their occupied positions and lines. In the conditions of the multiple superiority of the russian occupation forces in artillery, aviation, multiple artillery rocket systems, ammunition and personnel, the continuation of the city defense would lead to fatal consequences. In order to preserve lives of Ukrainian defenders, a decision to leave was made", - the message said.

The General Staff notes that the struggle continues.

"Unfortunately, iron will and patriotism are not enough for success - material and technical resources are needed. The defenders of the Luhansk and other regions of our country are heroically fulfilling their civil and military duty", - the General Staff noted.

Let us recall that earlier, head of the Luhansk oblast military administration Serhiy Haidai stated that the invaders were attacking Lysychansk with "incomprehensibly tough tactics".
