The Lithuanian Seimas has officially recognized the forced export of Ukrainians to russia as deportation. This was reported on the official website of the Lithuanian Parliament.
This resolution was supported by 50 deputies. They called on the world community to fight against these crimes.
"The purpose of this resolution is to recall the beginning of our mass deportations 81 years ago (in May-June 1941, the USSR carried out mass deportations from the Baltic countries, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova - ed.) and draw the attention of the whole world, the European Union, the attention of relevant organizations and institutions to what is happening in Ukraine today. Not only the war, the killing of innocent civilians, but also deportations", - one of the authors of the resolution Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė stated.
The adopted document also notes that there are 200 thousand minors among the deportees. Lithuanian parliamentarians call on the leadership of world powers to apply the principle of universal jurisdiction to investigate and bring to justice those who organize and contribute to the deportation of the population of Ukraine.
As previously reported, according to the mayor of Mariupol Vadym Boychenko, 47 thousand people were taken from the city to the russian federation.
