Acting Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Shevchuk dismissed Nikolay Stoyanov from the post of Prosecutor of Odessa region and prosecution bodies in the framework of the law "On cleansing power" (lustration). Prosecutor of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine Vladislav Kutsenko informed journalists about that, - reports the press service of the GPOU.

"The dismissal took place in accordance with the provisions of the Law of Ukraine "On Prosecutor's Office" and the Law of Ukraine "On cleaning power" based on studying N. Stoyanov’s personal case," - said the statement.

As previously reported, on March 29th Victor Shokin before his dismissal from the post of the Prosecutor General, fired David Sakvarelidze from the post of Deputy Prosecutor General – Prosecutor of Odessa region. On the same day Shokin appointed Stoyanov on the post of Prosecutor of Odessa region - pursuant to the decision of the Odessa Regional Administrative Court.

After that demonstrations against the return of Stoyanov to the prosecutor’s office took place in Odessa.

Stoyanov was appointed on the post of Prosecutor of Odessa region in 2014. Prior to that, he worked on various posts in the Prosecutor's Office. On July 7th, 2014, then Prosecutor General Vitaliy Yarema said that Stoyanov had written his resignation letter. Later Stoyanov appealed against his dismissal in court. It was he who in 2010 closed the case against the odious leader of the pro-Russian Rodina party Igor Markov, which the GPOU later proceeded.

Stoyanov is considered an ally of the former Prosecutor General Svyatoslav Piskun. Media accused him of organizing corruption schemes. According to Odessa Duma newspaper, Stoyanov has 8 luxury cars, real estate in Odessa, Mykolayiv and Spain, four restaurants in Odessa and a hunting ground near Kiev and Odessa, - said the statement.
