During the three months of the war in Ukraine, russian president vladimir putin has turned against himself both the "war hawks" and those who want peace, therefore, his entourage thought about the successor to the kremlin dictator. This is reported by the Meduza news website, citing sources.
According to the website, the general mood of the russian elites managed to completely change during the war several times – from confusion at the beginning and "patriotic upsurge" in April to pessimism three months after the russian invasion of Ukraine.
According to sources close to the kremlin, many people are now personally dissatisfied with putin. Moreover, this position is shared by those who advocate the continuation of the war, and those who want peace.
The interlocutors of the media project note that even the figures of the president's successors are being discussed in the kremlin behind the scenes. Among them are Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko, who recently became the Kremlin's curator of Donbass.
According to the sources, so far, the point is not to overthrow the president of the russian federation right now, but the topic of "the future after putin" is increasingly being discussed and "there is an understanding, or a wish, that he will not govern the state in a fairly foreseeable future".
At the same time, they emphasize that putin can leave the presidency only in case of a serious deterioration in his health.
As previously reported, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the russian elite is considering the possibility of removing putin with poisoning, sudden illness and an accident being considered as options.
