The U.S. State Department has stated that Russia is trying to create a pretext for invading Ukraine using allegations of "genocide" and "mass graves" in the Donbas. This was said by the official representative of the U.S. State Department Ned Price, - NV writes.

According to Price, none of these claims have any truthful basis. "This is a false narrative that Russia is developing to use as a pretext for military action against Ukraine", - he noted.

Price recalled that before the annexation of Ukrainian Crimea in 2014, Moscow also claimed that local Russian-speaking residents were being persecuted there.

Earlier, White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated that fake reports on mass graves in the Donbas could become a pretext for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
