Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has ruled out the possibility of granting Donbas a special status with the so-called veto right, which would allow the region to block Ukraine's strategic decisions. It is reported by 24tv.ua with reference to his interview with Rzeczpospolita.

Kuleba told that Russia really wanted such a special status, but it would not be. He stressed that no region of Ukraine would have the right to veto national-level decisions.

"It is carved in stone! So there will be no special status, as Russia imagines, no veto right", - Kuleba stated.

According to him, Ukraine is carrying out a deep reform of decentralization and is ready to work on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

"But the Minsk agreements begin with security. The political part is only in the second place there. Therefore, everyone should first of all focus on security", - the minister added.

Earlier, Russian negotiator in the Normandy format at the level of advisers Dmitry Kozak stated that the meeting of the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany was possible only after the issue of the special status of Donbas is resolved.

Ukraine once again extended the law on special status at the end of last year. However, it has not entered into force since 2014, because the legislation of Ukraine can only operate in the territories controlled by Kyiv. The document provides for: an amnesty for "participants in the events on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts", broad rights for the Russian language, including in the media and authorities and so on.
