On January 30, a group of people, which was planning riots in the city center, was detained in Kyiv. Minister of the Interior Denys Monastyrsky announced this at a briefing in Kyiv today, - correspondent of OstroV reports.

"It was planned to gather up to 5 thousand such persons. Of these, up to 1 500 were "thugs", who were supposed to start fights with law enforcement officers. There must have been violence among the rally participants", - he reported.

According to him, the protest was to take place near the Office of the President of Ukraine today, December 31.

The minister noted that fake blood was prepared for the rally, which was supposed to be used during clashes with the security forces.

"False blood was hidden, which was supposed to be shed. There were doctors who were supposed to confirm the pseudo-injury of the activists", - Monastyrsky said.

In addition, he noted, it was only the first of a number of planned protest campaigns.

"These actions were planned to be held in a number of cities of Ukraine, in particular, in central Ukraine. These were Sumy, Chernihiv, Poltava and Cherkasy oblasts. That is, the oblasts that are actually an hour and a half's drive from Kyiv and our northern borders with the Russian Federation", - the MIA head said.
