The USA is convening meetings of the UN Security Council on "Russia's threatening behavior" and "buildup of Russian troops on the borders of Ukraine and Belarus". This was stated by the U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, - Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
"… after weeks of close consultations with Ukraine and partners in the Security Council, the United States convened a public meeting of the Security Council to discuss an issue of critical importance to international peace and security: Russian threatening behavior against Ukraine and Russian troop buildup on the borders of Ukraine and Belarus", - she noted.
"Members of the Security Council should clearly examine the facts and consider what is at stake for Ukraine, Russia and Europe, as well as the basic obligations and principles of the international order in the event of further Russian invasion of Ukraine", - she stated.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 31.
