Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is ready to help Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin de-escalate tensions between Ukraine and Russia. This was reported by speaker of the President of Turkey İbrahim Kalın at the online webinar "Tension between Russia and Ukraine: what is at stake for Europe and NATO?", - LIGA.net reports with reference to the Daily Sabah.

"In fact, he even invited both of them to come to Turkey, if they want to meet there, sort out their issues and points of difference", - Kalın said.

He added that "Turkey, as a country friendly to Russia and Ukraine, as well as a NATO ally, will do everything possible to avoid hostilities".

Kalın noted that in a couple of weeks, Erdoğan would travel to Ukraine to negotiate with President Zelensky.

He stressed that the dialogue between the West and Russia should have started long ago, but meetings of the NATO-Russia Council were disrupted by the occupation of Crimea in 2014.
