Russia could defuse tension near Ukraine's borders tomorrow, but continues to escalate situation - State Department

Russia is capable of organizing a de-escalation of the situation on the border with Ukraine in the coming days, but for now, on the contrary, it is moving towards escalation. This statement was made by the U.S. State Department spokesman Ned Price at a briefing on Wednesday, - Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"The de-escalation could happen as early as tomorrow or on Friday, and that is what we would like to see", - Price said.

"But this has not happened yet, and in fact there are, on the contrary, indications of movement in the opposite direction… De-escalation… is not something that should take several weeks or more", - he noted, speaking about how quickly, according to the USA, Russia could make the situation near the borders of Ukraine calmer.
