It is time to substantively negotiate end to conflict in Donbas – Zelensky at meeting with Normandy advisers

Ukraine is ready for the necessary decisions to end the conflict in the Donbas and hold a new summit of the leaders of the Normandy Four countries. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a meeting with adviser to the German Chancellor on foreign policy Jens Plötner and diplomatic adviser to the President of France Emmanuel Bonn, - the press service of the head of state reports.

"The time has come to substantively negotiate an end to the conflict, and we are ready for the necessary decisions during the new summit of leaders of the four countries", - Volodymyr Zelensky said during a meeting in Kyiv.

The President welcomed the efforts that Ukraine's partners continue to make for the practical implementation of the leaders' agreements reached during the Paris Normandy Four summit in December 2019.

The report notes that the interlocutors exchanged views on the current situation and continued to discuss further steps with a view to a peaceful settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, as well as de-escalation of the situation on the borders of Ukraine.

According to head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak, the Ukrainian side remains committed to the political and diplomatic way of settlement.

He noted the need to ensure compliance with the full ceasefire, implementation of further stages of the mutual release of the detainees and opening of the checkpoints, as well as implementation of other decisions of the Paris summit of the Normandy Four leaders.

"Ukraine, France and Germany are making active efforts to resume effective work in the Normandy format at different levels. We expect that the Russian side will support these efforts, as well as contribute to the achievement of progress in the implementation of the decisions of the Paris summit of the Normandy Four. Holding of the next summit in the Normandy format would give a serious impetus to the peace process", - Andriy Yermak stated.
