Occupiers offer to open checkpoints in Donbas, subject to recognition of their documents and Russian vaccines - Harmash

Occupation authorities of CADLO have offered to open all checkpoints from December 30 to January 10, subject to Ukraine's recognition of the Russian vaccines and vaccination documents issued by CADLO. Representative of CADLO from Ukraine in the TCG Serhiy Harmash informed OstroV about this in a commentary.

"Unfortunately, there is no positive result regarding opening of the checkpoints. The occupation authorities made a proposal to open all checkpoints for the period from December 30 to January 10, but set a condition on the recognition of their vaccination documents and Russian vaccines", - he reported.

According to Harmash, these conditions are unacceptable for Ukraine, since the recognition of the documents would mean de facto recognition of CADLO as a party to the conflict, instead of Russia. In addition, in the event of such recognition, they will still close the checkpoint on January 10, but the fact of recognition of their documents will become a recorded precedent.

"Moreover, the issue of recognizing the Russian vaccine, which is not recognized by the World Health Organization, is not a matter of the TCG competence", - he noted.

At the same time, the Ukrainian party came up with an initiative to open the checkpoints for an unlimited period and without any conditions.

"The other side did not accept our offer", - Serhiy Harmash summed up.
