Russia demands from USA denying right to join NATO to countries that were part of USSR – draft treaty

Russia demands that the USA refuses the right to join NATO to the countries that were part of the USSR. This is said in the draft agreement between the Russian Federation and NATO on security guarantees, prepared by the Kremlin, - Russian media report.

One of the main points of this draft is the fact of the U.S. refusal to support the further expansion of NATO to the east and the admission of the countries that were part of the USSR, including Ukraine, into the alliance.

In addition, Russia offers the USA to abandon the creation of military bases on the territory of the countries that were part of the USSR.

It is proposed in the draft Russian treaty that NATO members will be able to deploy their armed forces on the territory of other countries only with the consent of all parties to this agreement.

How the issue of the deployment of Russian troops on the territory of Moldova (in the so-called Transnistrian republic), the occupied Crimea and uncontrolled territory of the Donbas will be resolved is not indicated.
