Militants in CADLO illegally detain 30 women in prisons and pre-trial detention centers, subject them to torture and mistreatment. This was reported on December 8 by authorized representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for human rights Lyudmyla Denisova on the Telegram channel.

"Currently, 30 women are being illegally detained in prisons and pre-trial detention centers in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donbas and the Luhansk region, who are subjected to torture and mistreatment. Five of them are in need of emergency medical care due to health problems", - she noted.

According to her, citizen of Ukraine, physics teacher Natalyia Shylo has been illegally held captive on the territory of the temporarily occupied Donetsk oblast for six months. She is suspected of the alleged "espionage in favor of Ukraine". The woman was detained in occupied Horlivka on June 5, 2021, where she came from Kyiv to visit her elderly mother. The teacher's relatives were allowed to give her clothes and food only 30 days after the arrest. She is currently in pre-trial detention center No.5 of occupied Donetsk.

As the Ombudsman noted, Natalia Shylo is a native of Horlivka. After the temporary occupation, she moved to Kharkiv, where she worked at a school and became a laureate of the city competition "Teacher of the Year – 2018" in the category "Physics". Subsequently, Natalia moved to Kyiv.

"I ask the Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine Florence Gillette, to visit pre-trial detention center No.5 in Donetsk in order to check the observance of the rights of Natalia Shylo and other detained persons", - she noted.

Denisova stressed the need to put pressure on the occupant Russia to respect the rights of illegally imprisoned citizens of Ukraine and their immediate release.
