EU approves sanctions against Russian mercenaries of PMC Wagner

The ambassadors of the European Union countries have approved sanctions against members of the Wagner Private Military Company. This was written on Twitter by the Brussels correspondent of Radio Liberty Rikard Jozwiak, - European Pravda reports.

"The EU ambassadors decided today to give the green light to sanctions against the Wagner group. The EU will also add three individuals associated with the group to its human rights sanctions regime, one person – to its list for Libya, three – to its list for Ukraine and two individuals and three corporates – to its for Syria. All of them are from Russia", - Jozwiak wrote.

He earlier reported that the sanctions would be directed against former officer of the Russian special forces, head of the group Dmitry Utkin, one of the contractors of the PMC in Syria Stanislav Dychko, and Valeriy Zakharov, who was involved in the activities of the PMC in the Central African Republic.

The European Union agreed in mid-November to develop a framework for possible sanctions against Russian mercenaries that could be sent to the Sahel region of West Africa.

Subsequently, the European Parliament passed a resolution condemning human rights violations by the Wagner Private Military Company, having blamed Russia.
