The Verkhovna Rada has extended the law on the special order of local self-government in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts for a year.

314 and 317 MPs, respectively, supported the corresponding bill No.6342 "On Amendments to Article 1 of the Law "On the Special Order of Local Self-Government in Certain Areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts" in the first reading and in general.

The Verkhovna Rada had already extended the term of this law by a year several times, since it cannot be implemented under the existing circumstances. The law on the special order of local self-government in CADLO was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in September 2014 and entered into force on October 18, 2014 for a period of 3 years. The document provides that a special procedure for local self-government in certain areas of Donbas comes into force only "after all the conditions set forth in Article 10 of the law are fulfilled, in particular, with regard to the withdrawal of all illegal armed formations, their military equipment, militants and mercenaries from the territory of Ukraine".
