Former deputy head of the State Security Directorate of Ukraine – head of the security service of ex-president of Ukraine V.Yanukovych was informed about suspicion of desertion. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

"The investigation established that in February 2014, the suspect, being a member of the high-ranking military officers, in order to hide the former president of Ukraine on the territory of the Russian Federation, illegally crossed the state border of Ukraine together with the latter. At the same time, the former deputy head of the State Security Directorate of Ukraine, acting in the interests of the ex-president of Ukraine, left for the territory of the Russian Federation to ensure his personal safety and has not yet returned", - the message says.

At the same time, the department does not indicate the name of the suspect, but sources of the Interfax-Ukraine agency reported that this refers to Major General Konstantin Kobzar.

The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine notes that the actions of the suspect made it possible for Viktor Yanukovych to hide from the pre-trial investigation bodies and the court since 2014. They clarify that the actions of the head of the ex-president's security service are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transfer of a person across the state border of Ukraine by prior conspiracy by a group of persons) and Part 2 of Art. 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desertion by prior conspiracy by a group of persons).
