"LNR" militant Kosyak remains in detention center, repents and is named in case as citizen of Ukraine - lawyer

The Luhansk Court of Appeal has upheld the decision to arrest the "LNR" militant Andrey Kosyak, who has a Russian passport. This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the decision of the court and the detainee's lawyer Kirill Shurkhno.

The Sievierodonetsk City Court of the Luhansk Oblast arrested Kosyak on October 15 for two months with the opportunity to be released on bail of $7 thousand. The Court of Appeal rejected the militant's complaint against the decision of the first-instance court on October 27.

"The suspect does not dispute the factual circumstances indicated in the suspicion, and very much regrets what he had done", - the text of the court decision says.

Defense lawyer Shurkhno reported that as of November 8, his client remains in custody, the bail of $7 thousand has not been paid. Despite the Russian passport, Kosyak is named in the criminal proceedings as a Ukrainian citizen.

"The case is at the stage of investigation. He is targeted in the in the criminal process as a citizen of Ukraine", - the lawyer noted.

At the same time, the lawyer stressed that he did not have information whether the Russian consul managed to meet with Kosyak.

The Ukrainian military detained the "LNR" militant Kosyak near the village of Zolote on the demarcation line on October 13. His passport of the Russian Federation, a gun and a military ID were seized from him.
