SBU detains "LNR" ex-militant in Luhansk oblast, who fled from ringleaders to get Ukrainian pension

The SBU counterintelligence officers have detained a former member of the illegal armed formations of the so-called "LNR" in the Luhansk oblast, the press center of the department reports.

The attacker tried to get into the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities to apply for a pension. It was established that the detainee participated in hostilities against the forces of anti-terrorist operation.

According to the SBU, he joined the militants in March 2015. There he was assigned to the so-called "4th separate motorized rifle brigade of the LNR", where he was involved in servicing enemy military equipment.

Subsequently, the attacker left the group and hid in the temporarily occupied territory of the Luhansk region.

Now the detainee has been informed of the suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 260 (participation in the activities of armed formations not provided for by law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The issue of the court's choice of preventive measure in the form of detention is being dealt with.

Information about the involvement of the attacker in the commission of other grave and especially grave crimes is being checked.
