Officially: EU Council extends sanctions against Russia for annexation of Crimea and aggression in Donbas by six months

The EU Council has approved the extension of personal sanctions imposed against Russia for aggression against Ukraine. This is said in the message of the press service of the EU Council, - European Pravda writes.

"Today, the EU Council decided to extend sanctions against those responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine for another six months, until March 15, 2022", - the message said.

The existing restrictive measures include travel restrictions, assets freeze and a ban on the provision of funds or other economic resources available to individuals and organizations.

The sanctions will continue to apply to 177 individuals and 48 legal entities.

The decision to extend the sanctions was made according to a written procedure. It will enter into force upon publication in the Official Journal of the EU.

The EU sanctions against persons and entities responsible for undermining the territorial integrity of Ukraine were introduced in March 2014 and have continued every six months since then. The last time before that, they were extended until September 15, 2021.
