Cable's degree of wear and overload: human rights activist reports details of major accident at mine in CALO

The main reasons for the accident at the Krasny Partizan mine in occupied Chervonopartyzansk (Dovzhansk district), where the mine cage cable broke off in the evening of September 6 and nine miners died, are worn out equipment and overloading. This was announced on September 7 by human rights activist Pavlo Lysiansky on Facebook with reference to sources in the CALO coal trade union.

"According to preliminary data, the main reason for what happened is deterioration of the transport cable, systematic overloads in the transportation of people along the mine shaft and failure of the safety system in accidents in vertical shafts when transporting people and cargoes. The so-called "parachute" should have worked, which would have prevented the tragedy", - Lysiansky informed.

He also noted that the 25 people who were in the mine cage were a safety violation. "This is a lot, no more than 12 people are allowed. According to information from the CALO trade union sources, the mine saved electricity in this way so as not to lower the mine cage twice and not to consume electricity", - the human rights activist reported.

Lysiansky also added that the miners who were in the mine at the time of the accident at 4:00 were also in the mine in violation of industrial safety rules, that is, there no emergency exit is provided at the mine.
