German Chancellor to visit Russian Federation before her visit to Ukraine - Russian media

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Russia on August 20, before her visit to Ukraine. This was announced at a briefing by official representative of the German government Steffen Seibert, - Russian media write.

According to him, her visit will take place on August 20.

"The details of the program will be announced next week, but it is clear that she will meet with President Putin", - Seibert added.

The Kremlin stated that the Russian leader intended to discuss with Merkel the development of bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues.

It was earlier reported that the visit to Kyiv is scheduled for August 22. As press secretary of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Nikiforov reported, the guarantees of Germany in the event of the launch of Nord Stream 2, as well as situation in the Donbas, will be discussed at a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky.
