Ukrainian People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Zhan Beleniuk has won the final of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition at the Tokyo Olympics - he brings the first "gold" for Ukraine at the Olympic Games. This is reported by the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

"Zhan Beleniuk is an Olympic champion! The performance of representative of Greco-Roman wrestling Zhan Beleniuk (up to 87 kg) turned out to be a triumphant one for our national team. The Ukrainian wrestler added gold to the 2016 Olympic silver in Rio and brought Ukraine the first highest award in Tokyo 2020", - the message says.

In the final of the weight category up to 87 kg, the Ukrainian defeated Hungarian Viktor Lorinets, who is the silver medalist of the 2019 World Cup.

President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, Olympic champion Sergey Bubka congratulated the wrestler and his mentor Volodymyr Shatskykh, as well as the entire wrestling community on the conquest of the Olympic summit and wished to successfully continue the glorious sports traditions in the future.
