The CEC of Russia has confirmed that electronic voting in the election to the State Duma was organized specially for residents of the occupied Donbas with the Russian Federation passports. A similar statement was made by Deputy Chairman of the CEC of the Russian Federation Nikolay Bulyaev, - Russian media report.

According to him, Donbas is a kind of "beginner's exercise" in organizing remote voting of Russians abroad. The introduction of electronic voting for persons who have received Russian citizenship under simplified procedure will allow the development of such a method of voting for all Russians living abroad, - Bulayev reported.

An experiment in remote electronic voting, conducted within the framework of election to the State Duma, will allow drawing conclusions about its future in Russia, - he stated.

Election to the State Duma of the Russian Federation will be held in September 2021.

The NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov stated that about 630 thousand passports of the Russian Federation were distributed on the territory of CADLO.

As previously reported, the Kremlin is considering the option of organizing the voting of residents of the occupied Donbas remotely, through the State Services portal. To this end, a massive campaign is being carried out for the "new Russians" in the uncontrolled territories to issue insurance numbers for an individual personal account (SNILS), which open access to the portal. The United Russia party, ruling in Russia, has already begun election campaigning in the occupied Donbas.
