European Union extends sanctions against Russia for another six months

On July 12, the EU Council has extended the sanctions directed at specific sectors of the Russian economy for another six months, until January 31, 2022. This was reported by European Pravda.

The Council's decision follows the latest assessment of the status of implementation of the Minsk Agreements at the EU Summit on June 24-25, 2021. In this regard, the leaders of the European Union called on Russia to fully assume responsibility for ensuring the full implementation of the Minsk Agreements as a key condition for any significant change in the EU's position. In light of the fact that these agreements are not being implemented by Russia, the EU leaders have unanimously decided to extend economic sanctions against it.
