On the eve of 1/4 of the European Football Championship, the British Embassy hopes that in the near future, the Ukrainian national team will be able to play a match in Donetsk, controlled by the legal authorities. This is reported by the diplomatic mission on Facebook.
The match between Ukraine and England will take place on July 3.
The Embassy recalled that the last time both teams met in the European championships was during Euro 2012 in Donetsk. England emerged victorious that day after a very tense match thanks to a goal from Wayne Rooney.
"We hope that in the near future, the Ukrainian team will again be able to play a home game in front of a crowd of their fans in Donetsk controlled by Ukraine, and then go on a post-season vacation to the Ukrainian Crimea", - the message says.
"The United Kingdom is Ukraine's partner, friend and supporter in the areas of security, reform and development", - the diplomatic mission's statement says.
