Russia is party to conflict in Donbas: G7 leaders demand that Kremlin withdraw troops and observe ceasefire

The leaders of the G7 states demanded in the final communique of the three-day summit held in Great Britain that Russia stopped the escalation of the conflict in Donbas. The text of the leaders' statement was made public on Sunday afternoon", - European Pravda reports.

In the document, the G7 leaders called on Russia to reduce tension and act in accordance with its international obligations, withdraw Russian troops and equipment stationed on the eastern border of Ukraine and on the Crimean peninsula.

"We remain firmly convinced that Russia is a party to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, not a mediator. We reaffirm our support for the Normandy process to ensure the implementation of the Minsk agreements, and call on Russia and the armed groups it supports to engage constructively and reaffirm their commitment to the ceasefire", - a statement adopted by all the leaders of the G7 states says.

The G7 also reaffirmed its support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
