Ukraine does not intend to build a second dam on the North Crimean Canal yet. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at the Ukraine 30. Infrastructure forum today, - correspondent of OstroV reports.

"We are not going yet. But sometimes they float good ideas", - he replied to the question whether Ukraine is really going to build a second dam on the North Crimean Canal as part of the "Big Construction" (as some Russian media report) in order to exclude water ingress to the peninsula as much as possible.

Earlier, Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych stated the need to strengthen the structures that do not allow the Dnipro water to enter the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

"The position of the Representative Office and the Management of the Canal is unambiguous - no water to the Crimea before the de-occupation. There are certain questions regarding the needs of strengthening structures that do not allow the Dnipro water to enter the temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as land reclamation of the southern areas of the Kherson region. We discussed important issues for the functioning of the canal, in particular, the need of the dam completion on the 107th kilometer of the canal, which, on the one hand, maximally excludes the ingress of water to the temporarily occupied Crimea, and on the other, will significantly improve the measures for reclamation of the southern areas of the Kherson region", - he said.
