Ukraine recognizes Revolution of Dignity as one of key moments in state formation

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a resolution defining the Revolution of Dignity as one of the key moments in formation of the Ukrainian state and the mouthpiece for the national idea of freedom. 295 people's deputies supported the decision, - Ukrayinska Pravda reports.

Document No.2739 says, in particular, about the inadmissibility of delay in the investigation of the "Maidan affairs", emphasizes the importance of memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, the inadmissibility of consolidation of power, assesses the actions of Viktor Yanukovych, the Berkut police units and other persons and organizations, who committed unlawful actions, namely, the unlawful actions of individual employees of the Berkut police units, individual militiamen, servicemen of internal troops, court bailiffs, prosecutors, judges and other persons during the Revolution of Dignity are condemned.

The importance of peaceful assemblies and the inadmissibility of arbitrary actions, the importance of European values as the foundation of the Ukrainian state are also emphasized.

Unidentified security forces representatives killed a hundred participants in the Euromaidan in the central part of the city of Kyiv in the period from February 18 to February 20, 2014. The term "Heavenly Hundred" appeared in honor of their self-sacrifice. Ukrainian law enforcement officers are investigating a criminal case in relation to these shootings and participation of the Berkut special police unit in them.
