Three Crimean Tatars, Enver and Riza Omerov and Ayder Dzhapparov, were sentenced by a Russian court to 18, 13 and 16 years in prison, respectively. This was reported by Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Lyudmyla Denisova on Facebook.

"The Kremlin repressive machine continues to terrorize the citizens of Ukraine - the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don just made an illegal decision to imprison Crimean Tatars - residents of the Bilohirsk district of Crimea, who were detained on June 10, 2019 on charges of "carrying out terrorist activities" and participation in the Hizb ut-Tahrir organization", - the Commissioner reported.

She clarified that the Russian judges imprisoned Crimean Tatars Enver and Riza Omerov - for 18 and 13 years, respectively, and Ayder Dzhapparov - for 16 years, serving a sentence in a high-security prison. According to the court's verdict, each of them will be held in prison for the first two years of imprisonment.

"I condemn the illegal decision taken against our fellow citizens by the aggressor country, which continues to defiantly violate international treaties and norms of international law with its shameful actions. I want to remind the entire international community that today, on the Day of the Ukrainian Political Prisoner, all citizens of Ukraine who are in the Kremlin captivity, need our support and consolidation of efforts for their early release", - Lyudmyla Denisova wrote.
